Have you ever wondered what it would be like to find a genie in a bottle that could give you three wishes? I grew up watching “I Dream of Jeannie” and always thought how cool it would be to sit back in Jeannie’s bottle and take a long nap. The bottle was unique and so was Jeannie. I loved her silly sense of doing things and how she had such a positive attitude most of the time.
These fond memories bring me back to my childhood, the same way a great cup of hot cocoa does. Spending a week at the beach with my family during the summer, we would get up early so we could hit the waves but not before drinking a cup of hot cocoa. We would also sit around the campfire at night, laughing, talking and singing while enjoying a piping
hot cup of cocoa. Cocoa just seemed to make everything that much better. Good times, good times, as my daughter Sophia would say.
Now that I’m all grown up and with kids of my own, one thing that we do on a pretty consistent base is to make chocolate peanut butter frappes. Everything seems better with chocolate and peanut butter on it. This is now a family ritual; were creating experiences and memories that my kids will always remember.
What fond memories do you have as a child? What’s one thing or phrase that brings you back to a time where happy memories abound?
